I went shopping yesterday to buy the rest of the present that I got for my friend Sam's 21st birthday. While I was downtown I also added three new dvds to my collection. The dvds I got were:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Season One
Camelot (film musical) (I've been looking for a copy for a while and I was browsing through the dvds that were marked $6.34 and I found it in one of those shelves)
Muppets Treasure Island (favourite muppet movie that I've wanted to get for ages)

Sam's 21st birthday party was tonight. Her birthday is actually in February but she had a combined birthday with her dad (who was turning 50) and her brother (who was turning 18). It was a pretty good night. We ended up playing Singstar at the end, which is the first time I've played the game. It was fun though, I have to say singing Video Killed the Radio Star by the Buggles was probably the easiest song that we did. Some of the songs we did were Build me up Buttercup, Just like a pill, Survivor, Bring me to Life, Who do you think you are, Girls just want to have fun and a couple of others.

Including tonight, I have now been out for the past three Saturday nights now.

I still haven't figured out how I've actually started having a social life.

Current Music: The Awefull Battle of the Pekes - Cats Australian Cast

I just finished watching my first episode of House.

I think I might have a new fandom.

In terms of general updates I had a fairly busy Saturday and Sunday doing actual real life things - I have never been this social in one weekend.

TAFE's going okay, apart from Statistics which is boring (we were doing frequency tables pretty much all lesson on Tuesday). Newsediting for Communications and Contemporary Australia are going great though. We have a current affairs quiz each Monday in Newsediting and this time two of the questions were sport related (I got one of the two questions wrong. One of the questions was who won the A-League Soccer grand final, this match was between Central Coast Mariners and the Newcastle Jets, Newcastle Jets won but I only knew that Central Coast was playing in the match so I put that down and then got it wrong. The other sports question was who won the pre season NRL match which was played in Orange on the weekend - the teams that played were the Canberra Raiders and the Brisbane Broncos, I guessed that the Raiders won (which I got right) but that was only because I knew that they had been in Orange for the past couple of days. I had initially thought it was the Sydney Roosters because I knew that they had also played the West Tigers that same weekend but then I reasoned that if they had been in Orange then my brother (who is a West Tigers fan) would have tried to get down there if he could (Orange is about 30-45 minutes from where I live). So I ended up getting 9/10 for the quiz.

For Contemporary Australia we had to write about 3 cartoon sources and do some research about the issues that they were talking about. They're due for tomorrow's class but I've only done one of the cartoons. I'm here on lj instead so I should probably get off and finish the last two sources.

So last night I actually did something that resembled a social life.

One of my friends was holding a candle party and she invited me to go so I spent two hours over at her house last night. Except we didn't really do much with candles, the majority of the evening I was talking with one of her friends who was there who I hadn't actually met before (I'm pretty sure I haven't met him, but my memory is rather bad). We had over an hour talking about Star Trek and different fandoms.

Our Star Trek conversations mostly revolved around 1) Who would win in a fight between the Death Star and a Borg Cube and 2) Who was the best Star Trek captain.

This was the first time that I've actually had those type of conversations since most people I know aren't into Star Trek. The friend who invited me over (who isn't a Star Trek fan) was like 'I can't believe I'm having this conversation in my house' and her housemate went 'he has this conversation all over Bathurst,'

It was pretty much random but it was fun.

In other news I still haven't heard from Coles yet in regards to whether or not I have the job but hopefully I'll hear something by the end of this week. I'm also starting TAFE next week, so I'll have to get into the studying pattern again.

Current Music: Walk through the fire - Buffy the musical

I figured I should finally get round to updating this thing.

Well the first main thing is that I'm not going back to uni, my results being what they were and all. I'm a little disappointed but I do have a back up plan, which entails me working for 12 months (after I find a job) and then going to tafe for 2008 (possibly doing a business certificate). I'm hoping to go back to uni as a mature aged student in 2009 because I still want my degree, its just going to take a while longer to get it.

Second thing is Christmas, which was pretty quiet this year because dad was working Christmas day so we just had a lunch as a family. I got an mp3 player, which was the main thing that I wanted this year. I had a bit of trouble with it because when I first put the songs on they jumped at certain points in them but dad changed the song format and so far it seems to be working. Hopefully when I put more songs on it they will still work. Other things that I got were money and I got the very best of Billy Joel CD. We had a Boxing Day lunch at my cousins place, and we didn't end up leaving until a quarter to six in the afternoon because dad was helping uncle Ron put this weather device thingy on the roof, so we were there for the majority of yesterday.

I've been getting out of the house a bit, which is good. I went to my friend Bec's 19th party at La Perchettas (I don't know how to spell that) on the 16th of December, last week I spent an hour and a half or so downtown shopping with my friend Naomi and today I went to a barbeque at her place along with a couple of other friends (Bec and Paul). Tomorrow I'm going Ten Pin Bowling with them, which should be interesting.

And finally the two characters that I applied for at [info]fandomhigh were accepted. This means next semester in addition to playing Naomi Wildman I'll also be playing Liz Sherman from Hellboy as a student and I'll be playing Geordi La Forge from Star Trek: The Next Generation and Geordi will be teaching Engineering (I do not know what possessed me to apply Geordi as an Engineering professor, I just found myself applying to play a teacher). Next semester is going to be interesting.
